What does it mean if a college says they match cal grants?

No Comments 14 May 2012

Question by Jimmie R: What does it mean if a college says they match cal grants?
I want to attend university of the pacific and i am relying completely on scholarships, I was wondering what it meant if UOP says they match cal grants?

Best answer:

Answer by NotAnyoneYouKnow
The University of the Pacific has long been recognized as a leader in providing sufficient financial aid for all of their accepted students to attend the school. One of their proudest accomplishments in this regard is that they guarantee that they will double your Cal Grant (if you otherwise qualify for the Cal Grant program).

In other words, if you are eligible for a Cal Grant of say, $ 1800 a year, the University of the Pacific would match that amount, and provide you with another $ 1800 in school-funded grant money, to go with the $ 1800 you received from the State of California.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

I hope that helped.

Does Illinois give college grants to married students?

1 Comment 13 May 2012

Question by april2008: Does Illinois give college grants to married students?
I know in some states you get extra college money (grants, etc) if you’re married. Does anyone know about Illinois?

Best answer:

Answer by NotAnyoneYouKnow
See the link below for the website of the organization that handles just about all of the state educational grant funds in Illinois. I don’t know of any special program for married people – I’m pretty sure that Illinois, like most other states, awards educational assistance on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, chosen field of study and military service. At least that’s what it says on the ISAC website.

If you can’t find the specific answer that you are looking for there, then the ISAC is definitely the organization to contact – they know everything there is to know about grant programs available to Illinois state residents.

I hope this information helps you – good luck!

Pell grant information or any info on college financial aid?

1 Comment 06 May 2012

Question by confusedncurious: Pell grant information or any info on college financial aid?
I was pretty disappointed that I am most likely not able to qualify for the pell grant. I do not understand why, however I will live. How much is too much to make in order to be ineligible for the pell grant, if you are single with one dependent/child? And are there any other grants that help students go back to school? I just want to finish for promotion purposes and I am almost there! Thanks any info can help…
