Final crisis 1-6 was good stuff , but number 7 is the greatest shit have ever read .That is impudence , unworthy and as I think it was written under drugs . Final Crisis 7 destroys the whole rest of the Story , Iam totally pissed off !!!!!!!!

  2. tumdukter says:

the thing elliot does from 6:12 to 6:22 is absolute gold!

    tom.

  3. johnnyhorror92182 says:

I agree with you, man. I loved Final Crisis!

  4. DamianRavenblood says:

I suspect its more than the non-linear style of story telling of FC that has put pple off. You know what i think? Pple are simply mentally and emotinally Anesthetized. Does that I mean i’m any better. NO. I just call it how i see it.

  5. DamianRavenblood says:

I call it how i see it. I loved all of FC from # 1 to 7. To me, every issue conveyed something so true, raw and powerful. Nothing about it was in anyway incoherent. I connected to series more on a very emotional level for everything I saw. And I call it how i see it.

  6. DamianRavenblood says:

DC books such as JSA, Superman, Action Comics, Simon Dark, etc. have existing self contained narratives that are still on-going since before Final Crisis. I think anyone with an imagination could easily place FC in a suitable period that would not conflict with these pre-FC on-going self-contained narratives.

  7. DamianRavenblood says:

I think the Claim that the events in Final Crisis do not manifest in the present run of DC books is wrong. What about the Flash, Batman and Green Lantern Titles that are and have been directly tied to FC??

  8. comicculturewarrior says:

Morrison has always likened the JLA to the Greek/Roman pantheon of the gods, and has made numerous references to other mythological/religious stories/scriptures about ‘end of times’ events involving god-like beings and wanting to draw that into FC. It was an ambitious series at the very least. Maybe oce its been collected in trade format and we’ve all had a chance to step back from the hype that surrounded the book, we’ll appreciate it for what it was.

    Thanks for commeting!

  9. DamianRavenblood says:

The intention to alter and dominate Creation in his (Darkseid) image or order was the initial plan but it eventually led to nihilism. Darkseid was dying since Seven Soldiers. He was simply going to be shut out of Creation as a disembodied spirit. That was the doom he knew, as a god, would befall him. He would forever be trapped in an eternal void of Darkness as punishment. Hence, he (Darkseid) chose nihilism and to bring all of Creation down the abyss with him.

  10. DamianRavenblood says:

Superheroes in the DC U have finally acheived noticeable mythological status with Final Crisis. The Marvel U has gone nowhere near that. Final Crisis is entirely about saving and preserving the constant true mode of reality/Creation from the fallen nature of Darkseid and Mandrakk.

  11. freshkd07 says:

Final Crisis has been way cooler than invasion nothing happan in invasion !
someone got fucking killed and it was batman !

  12. comicculturewarrior says:

Well, LO3W has yet to conclude and Batman RIP was one of the most anti-climactic mini-series of all time (c’mon, a series touting the ‘death’ of Batman’ only to have him show up the very next month in another book?). At least BN is coming out on time. And so did SI, which already puts it above FC IMO.

    Thanks for commenting!

  13. XxFloggingMollyxX says:

Final Crisis failed to me but was still much better than SI. At least we got good stuff out of Final Crisis like Legion of 3 Worlds and Batman RIP. I think it’s DC’s fault though, for putting all their support into Blackest Night and none into Final Crisis.

  14. kurumais says:

i had some books out and saw the last 3 issues of FC and it hit me i had no idea what happened in in the first 3 issues thats how long it took to get to where ever it ended

  15. locusmortis says:

Thats the epilogue though and not the actual ending. Its like in Lord of the Rings, the ring being thrown in the volcano is the actual ending but then theres a heap of epilogues where everyone says goodbye to everyone else.

The ending of FC where Supermans sings the notes reminded me of chapter 1 of the “6 Voyages of Lone Sloane” by Phillipe Druillet where Sloane does that and even the scene looks similar….

  16. locusmortis says:

Haha, no I just don’t think morrison is as bad as some make out, he ain’t no Mark Millar :P

I ignored DC from Identity Crisis thru to Death of the New Gods. Again I blame Didio and DC editorial for screwing up Final Crisis before it even started by doing Countdown and Death of the new gods.

Also Morrison tried to stretch himself but reached farther than his talent would allow. Bendis on the other hand played it very safe, SI is phenomenally simple as a series.

  17. comicculturewarrior says:

Sigh. Felt bad for Johnnyhorror and decided to join him on his deserted island, locus? LOL.

Seriously, you make a good point, and I would agree with you wholeheartedly were it not for the fact that DC created not one but TWO 52 week ‘maxi-series’ to tie in to FC (52 and Countdown) and have been touting in DC Nation each week how the end of FC would be the ‘end of the DCU as we know it.’

All I know is that I want my money back!
;-) (Just joking there. I still love you Jann.)

  18. locusmortis says:

Ok, gonna go Devils Advocate on this one….. why should an event set up a new status quo?

Why shouldn’t a story just end? Why does every event have to lead to another event….and another event…like House of M, Civil War, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign…when does it come to a conclusion?

I think thats something Morrison was trying to get at, the power of stories and myths. FC was WAY more ambitious than Secret Invasion, Morrison just wasn’t able to pull it off. A brave failure imo.

  19. johnnyhorror92182 says:

I agree. There was lots of interesting stuff that came out of Final Crisis. Rogues Revenge, Revelations, Legion of Three Worlds is fantastic! And I loved Superman Beyond 3-D because it was just such a head trip!
I’m sure that Beyond 3-D was gonna be part of the Final Crisis series but editorial nixed that so they could have another book for us to buy.
Someone at DC is taking their cues from Marvel.

  20. brb2323 says:

I agree that if the series had been longer it could have been better. It could have helped with some of the buildup that they were talking about that was just never resolved or explained.
I liked it ok overall. I really liked Rucka’s Revelations, and G.Johns Legion & Rogues Revenge. So there were some good things to come out of Final Crisis.

  21. locusmortis says:

To DC editorial…So what was the point of Batman RIP then?

More like Batman RIP-off to me…

  22. locusmortis says:

have to say I preferred Walt Simonson writing and drawing Orion a few years ago.

  23. watchwrestling says:

    From Newsarama:

NRAMA: You mentioned that there was one scene that you included at DC’s request at the end – was that the scene showing that essentially, everyone was okay, with Lois narrating…or later…in the cave?

GM: The scene was with Batman. Id made it a little more ambiguous but DC editorial didnt want readers to think Batman might actually be dead for more than a fortnight, so I revised the last page to be somewhat on the nose, as they say in Hollywood.

    He did change it!

  24. Pinkhamsterino says:

There is an excellent essay on what went wrong with Final Crisis that you can find if you Google search for “not the beastmaster rip”

  25. watchwrestling says:

I actually agree with Jose that the ending feels changed, but Morrison claims it’s not so.

  26. scottkicksyou says:

I had no interest, before, but now, I MUST read COUNTDOWN.

  27. Jumpmann says:

good analysis on the cap panel

  28. dragonblaze10 says:

or may-be the new gods got renarnated

  29. Down2Ryse says:

    cool show

  30. americanfreak23 says:

according to what i’ve read seven soldiers happened one week before infinite crisis.
does this question have anything to do with boss dark side and the club?

  31. HotRodakaMadMax says:

i think Batman was gon the opposite of crazy. he decoded some crazy stuff on the Bat Computer.

  32. arias2141 says:

52 was a great series and it ties with infinite not final… I didn’t stick around much for Countdown cause of: money, story, didn’t feel like 52 and I wasn’t sure making a weekly would do wonders again. I agree that sometimes DC gives out a WTFing hell to you but I think I know where FC is going so I’m sticking.

  33. Rahl005 says:

well thats what i mean your pumped with all this over hyped event with all crappy stories leading up to the first issue that leaves you saying wtf happend what was all that i was reading and whats this crap

  34. madclan says:

Yes…yes you did…just like me and a whole bunch more.

  35. madclan says:

Sadly I’m stupid and I like it when I hand over large sums of money to companies so I’ll be buying lots of the filler issues. I’ve been thinking of joining CAA (Comic-book addicts anonymous.)

  36. madclan says:

What a time to read, but what a terrible time to get back. I enjoyed Countdown for the most part when I got it; of course there was the terrible issues which I think is inherent in any weekly story, BUT to spend my money for a year and then be told ‘meh, whatever’ is insulting and annoying.

  37. sachaput says:

I have generally been a DC over Marvel buyer, except for the period when the Stan, Jack, Steve & the original Bullpen were creating everything.

I didn’t buy any comics for almost three years and feel jerked around that I started with COUNTDOWN, although I was mostly enjoying it at the time.

  38. sachaput says:

I’m not going to get sucked in on this one. I’ll pick up the next issue of FINAL CRISIS (none of the ‘Sightings’ books) and decide if I will stick around.

SECRET INVASION is so much better. I’m going back and picking up stuff like SECRET WARS to see what I have missed. Makes me wish I had been buying CIVIL WARS rather then the DC books.

  39. sachaput says:

I don’t know that it blows, but I am totally lost like Madclan says. Did I really spend all that time and money on 52 & COUNTDOWN to have DC wave the middle finger in my face?

  40. sachaput says:

I expect Cap will be showing up over in MARVEL 1985, at least you see him on the cover of the first issue. I do recommend that book by the way, perfect childhood fantasy come true kind of thing.

  41. PsychicSyndrome says:

Thank you for saying that about Cap, I’ve been wondering why they keep using him after he’s dead. Right now there’s Captain America with the 1950s clone, and Avengers/Invaders miniseries and Secret Invasion. It like since Cap death he’s been used more than any other character.

  42. Rahl005 says:

mna i cant say this enough final crisis blows hard and secret invasions great but i do feel obligated to pick upfinanl crisis even thuogh i have no clue wtf is going on

  43. gorgonzola2001 says:

totally agree, dc right now is just not as good as marvel with consistently good books. final crisis is a book you basically have to buy, ah well, trinity is coming out this week, so hopefully that is solid. they have been putting out good batman stories, thats about it.

  44. madclan says:

I mean it more as a metaphorical..you know traped with nowhere to go.

    I haven’t decided about 1985 yet.

  45. EastVillKat says:

Minor nerdy quip: did I hear you call the Savage Land an “island” (3:08)? It’s in Antarctica. Oops.

Are you going to review 1985?

  46. madclan says:

Sadly I’ve just been reading over a lot from this past week’s convention. He is dead according to Dan Didio.

    Thanks for watching.

  47. moeezS says:

Haha, nice party analogy, makes sense! “No body, no death” should be a rule for every character death in a comic!

I really want to get into the Batman going “insane” storyline, so I shall be picking up 672-677, to get all this Black Glove stuff :D

Thanks for the great reviews, as usual :)

  48. dddevin69 says:

good review. At first I thought (oh, this is a DC guy), but you gave a good take on Final Crisis. I’m not exaggerating….I think Final Crisis # 1 sucked. I actually loved House of M, Civil War, and I’m equally blown away by Secret Invasion. Reading Final Crisis # 1 is like walking in on your wife with another man. It’s shocking and it sucks

  49. madclan says:

Yet another consistency issue that they have yet to answer. I believe that the answer is no, but I’m really not sure. It wasn’t bad enough that we have all those ‘Sightings’ issues but now the Dark Side Club banners as well. Watch your wallets DC is going after everything you have.

  50. madclan says:

I agree with this. I hate the fact I wasted so much money on CD and all sorts of tie-ins. It’s disappointing and very disheartening. I am a big DC fan but more and more I find myself reading Marvel books and enjoying them a great deal more.
